The work of this group is dedicated to visiting the sick and elderly in the congregation.
The group is formed from of ladies of the congregation (although men are not excluded!) who undertake to visit members of the congregation who ,for various reasons cannot attend church services. Carers visit on a regular basis and thus help to maintain a connection with the affairs of the church.
Home Communion for those who wish it is arranged with a carer and our minister Rev. John Carswell. Also help is offered in the way of transport for afternoon Communion when that is available.
A friendly word, perhaps a shared cup of tea, a birthday remembered, a little prayer and even a holiday postcard go a long way to reduce the feeling of isolation and let the housebound know that we still love and care.
The group meets twice a year to make sure that all who need care are added to the list and assigned a carer. It's true to say that the visitors derive pleasure from this service and feel that it is very welcome and worthwhile.
